 Overview

FutureProof 27 is a week long conference designed to explore the future of motion design. It will feature keynote speakers, workshops, networking events, and exhibitions showcasing cutting-edge techniques and technologies. The conference aims to inspire, educate, and connect motion designer students to the professional world. The brand identity should reflect this ambition and resonate with a sophisticated and creative audience.

Concept

An exploration of the space between softness and chaos, this concept examines how motion exists across extremes of control, fluidity, tension, and disruption. Gentle, restrained movement carries intention, clarity, and precision, while chaotic movement introduces force, unpredictability, and emotional intensity. Rather than existing as opposites, both become essential parts of the same visual language.
At its core, the piece reflects the adaptability required of motion designers—the ability to work seamlessly between calm and collision, refinement and disorder, softness and impact. Moving between these states becomes a metaphor for the practice itself, revealing that strong motion design is not rooted in mastering one kind of movement, but in understanding how to navigate both.

Understanding the brief

This creative brief outlines the direction for developing the brand identity and marketing assets for FutureProof 27—a motion design conference at Ringling College of Art and Design built for the community shaping what’s next. The event is positioned as a space for experimentation, inspiration, and pushing both craft and technology forward. The goal is to create a bold, visually striking identity that reflects the energy of motion designers while embracing a forward-thinking aesthetic. Deliverables include the logo and wordmark, animated logo, title sequence, and social content, all designed to work as a cohesive system. A key challenge was creating visual variety within a consistent render style, balancing exploration with cohesion so each asset felt distinct without breaking the overall look. Ultimately, the project aims to deliver a unified, memorable brand experience that positions FutureProof 27 as a must-attend event in the motion design space.

Development

One of the project requirements was developing 16 styleframes, which pushed us to explore a wider range of compositions, pacing, and visual variations while still keeping the overall sequence cohesive.
