A TARGET CHRISTMAS

• Overview
Task - Develop a 5-10 second advertisement that aligns with the brand's visual identity and marketing goals. This project focuses on integrating provided live-action footage with a 3D model of the product, which will be accurately camera tracked into the scene using Nuke's camera tracking software to ensure seamless interaction between elements. The goal is to create a cohesive and visually compelling final animation that feels both realistic and brand-driven, while demonstrating technical precision and thoughtful design.
Throughout the process, I prioritized precise camera tracking and thoughtful placement of Target's products within the scene, ensuring it interacted naturally with the environment while reinforcing a clear and compelling brand presence.
• Process
Breaking down the project
I first began by tracking the footage in Nuke with the powerful Camera Tracker node, then established a ground plane from the tracked points and projected geometry onto it to serve as accurate placeholders for the Target products.
Building on strong foundations
Once the track was solid and none of the projected geometry slipped along the camera track, I was able to replace the placeholders with 3D objects after merging the camera and placeholder geometry into Cinema 4D.
Rendering with Redshift
After replacing the projected geometry with models from Redshift Render's live database, I was able to establish a post pipeline in Nuke for the finishing touches. For this project, I also enjoyed getting to experiment with Nuke's Optical Glow and Re-grain nodes to help blend the objects into the scene.

• Thank you!
Integrating 3D objects into live-action footage was a challenge, however, I especially enjoyed the process of combining technical tracking work with creative worldbuilding to bring the concept to life.
